India in Group A with Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh
India has been placed in Group A alongside hosts Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. The tournament kicks off on February 19 with Pakistan taking on New Zealand in Karachi. India will begin their campaign the following day, February 20, against Bangladesh in Dubai.
Group B includes Afghanistan, Australia, England, and South Africa. Matches for Group B and non-India games will take place across various venues in Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.
Special Arrangements for Semifinals and Final
In a unique arrangement, India’s knockout matches, including the semifinal and final, will be shifted to the UAE if they qualify. The semifinals are scheduled for March 4 and 5, with the final slated for March 9 in Lahore. However, should India make it to the final, it will also be held in the UAE.
Hybrid Model and Future ICC Events
The hybrid model adopted for the tournament ensures that Pakistan will play its matches in ICC events hosted by India at neutral venues until 2027. Furthermore, Pakistan has been awarded hosting rights for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, marking a significant achievement for their cricket board.
